点评:The Sherpatrappa Stairs are an alternative to the extortionately priced cable car.
The steps are found at the foot of Mount Storsteinen - an easy walk from Tromso across the bridge, past the Arctic Cathedral, and through a residential area. It is pretty well signposted.
You get used to walking uphill, even before you start ascending the steps themselves!
It is a tough climb, 1203 stairs in total. We are in our 60’s, but people in their 20’s and 30’s were struggling at times too. Quite a few rest areas, with benches, to take in the views on the way.
Proper walking boots/shoes are essential, as it is quite rocky and uneven in parts.
The view from the top is amazing, and the cafe a nice bonus!
Downhill is tough going, watch your knees.
This route is only open during the summer months, and probably not a good idea to do if the weather was poor or if it was dark, as it can be tricky in parts.
