Beautiful monastery with a historical past

点评：Touring the Danube on a river cruise, we had an opportunity to see and photograph this historical site. The Mraconia Monastery is located in the nicest part of the Danube at the Cazanele Dunaril (ii). Swallowed by the raising waters, it became the monastery under water. Many unsuccessful attempts were made for reconstruction.
According to available literature, in 1995, a decision was made to rebuild the monastery, close to its original site, located on a cliff close to the Cazane gorges on the Danube. Access to the church was very difficult in the past, but today there is a road linking Orsova to Moldova Noua. This picturesque road running along the Danube now enables pilgrims to easily visit since the Cazane gorges is one of the most beautiful places in Romania.
