点评：We visited Whitchurch Silk Mill as part of a group ride with our local Harley-Davidson Chapter, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, the team at the mill were incredibly welcoming—even opening up the front lawn so we could park our motorcycles right in front of the building, which made for a beautiful setting. The mill itself is steeped in history, sitting on the River Test with the water running on either side of the building. The grounds are idyllic, and we were lucky enough to enjoy our visit in glorious sunshine.
Our tour guide was warm, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable. She walked us through the process of silk weaving from cocoon to finished product, explaining everything in great detail—including the mill’s involvement in producing fabric for the King’s coronation and iconic films like Titanic and BBC dramas such as Emma.
We finished with a lovely lunch of sandwiches, tea, and the most delicious cakes—lemon drizzle and Victoria sponge were especially popular!
The entire visit was beautifully organised, informative, and incredibly enjoyable. I can’t recommend Whitchurch Silk Mill enough, especially for group visits. Thank you for making our day so memorable.
