点评：Let me start by telling you the worst thing about Crazy Mountain Cycles…that’s leaving. We wanted to stay longer! It was a great experience.
My wife and I have been to the Hatfield McCoy trails several times and stayed at various places. Overall, our prior trips have been good. However, they cannot compare to our time with Crazy Mountain Cyles (CMC) and Mark Bullis.
On this trip, we flew up from Florida on a Friday, rented a car at the airport in Charleston WV and drove to CMC. We rented an apartment from Mark that is located on the second floor of CMC. The apartment was clean, well equipped, comfortable and reasonably priced. CMC is within walking distance of stores, restaurants and just about everything one would need.
Mark was there when we arrived and went over the paperwork for the apartment, as well as for the side by side (SXS) we rented from him. We’d already read everything online before arriving and understood the rules and requirements. Still, Mark took his time and made sure we understood everything. He goes out of the way to answer questions and ensure you’re comfortable with what you’re signing. In addition. Mark made sure to tell us about local restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
That first night, many others came in to stay with CMC. We ended up sitting around the fire ring that first evening with Mark and the other guests. All of the other guests had stayed with CMC in the past and it was clear that Mark treated them like close friends and not just guests. Mark treated us the same way! Like good friends.
On Saturday morning we retrieved our SXS from Mark. It was a (darn near) new Kawasaki KRX 1000. The machine was in great shape and clearly well maintained. In fact, the morning we picked it up, his mechanic was on site and told us he had just checked over the machine and installed a new belt to be sure everything worked as intended.
Mark went over the rental rules with us, which are pretty simple. No road riding but to travel to the trail head (about three miles away). If you break it, you buy it (flat tires, broken parts from mistreatment, etc). Bring it back clean (there’s a car wash just past CMC). And bring it back filled with 93 octane (there’s a gas station about one block away).
The machine performed flawlessly. We traveled around 230 miles over 2.5 days of riding. Each night, we returned to CMC where Mark greeted us and clearly looked forward to hearing about our day.
I also need to mention the great communication with Mark both before and during our stay. Prior to arriving I emailed and spoke by phone with Mark asking a few questions. Example, I asked about laundry facilities and Mark directed me to an easily accessible and close laundromat right down the street from CMC. Mark gave me a phone number to reach him upon our arrival so that he could be sure to be on-site when we reached CMC.
During our stay I called Mark from the trail and asked him if he thought we had time to make the long ride from Pocahontas trail to Pineville (Pinnacle Creek) for lunch, and then back again. Mark was gracious enough to tell us to go right ahead and even gave us permission to be a little late on our return. (Normal return time is 5pm.)
We spent a lot of time chatting with Mark and his lovely wife Summer. They are great people and great fun.
You cannot fake genuine concern and pride in your business, and the way Mark conducts himself is both genuine and caring. He wants you to have a great experience and goes out of his way to make sure you do.
I realize you have a lot of options for room and rentals around the Hatfield and McCoy trails. However, we consider CMC to be the very best place to stay. We cannot wait to come back and stay with Mark at CMC.
