Eagle eye (pun intended) John is an amazing guide!

点评：Even though I'm a nature nerd, I'm really bad at identifying birds, so I decided that to make the most of my visit to the Danube Delta, I should travel with a guide. This was the BEST decision I could have made!
And John is the BEST guide!!! As someone who lives in the Delta, he has an incredible wealth of knowledge of the local flora and fauna. I did 2 tours with him (apx. 4 hours each) and I felt I got so much better at identifying birds in just that short time. Where normally I'd identify a "spastic bird that flies like a bat" now I know it's a Whiskered Tern, and I'll certainly never forget that.
Other than the numerous birds we saw, we were also lucky enough to spot a Golden Jackal, so his eagle eyes are not just scanning the skies, but the shore as well. His well-rounded knowledge doesn't end at the wildlife either. We also sampled a bite of bulrush root, which he explained was a plant people harvested in the past.
John is very friendly and really knows how to spot and get good views of wildlife without being intrusive. He's also a great teacher! I highly recommend a tour with John!
