点评：It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a walk as much as the one I took in thexAbbeyleix Bog. The people involved have done a wonderful job conserving the bog and creating this beautiful walk, a combination of earth and gravel paths and raised wooden boardwalks.
It's so good that I literally did it twice!
There are two walks, one a 3.6km loop and another 7.6 km, I think. I did the shorter loop as it involves a wooden boardwalk out to the centre of the bog. It's stunningly beautiful but it's also the peace and quiet it involves. When I finished it, I promptly kept going and did it again for a second lap!
There's a square wooden platform in the very middle of the bog, what a lovely quiet spot. Wish there was a bench there!
The walk is easy and flat, just wear appropriate footwear. It is wide enough for buggies. About three quarters of it is through woodlands at the edge of the bog then the boardwalk across open raised bog.
Loads of parking at the trailhead by the hotel. Completely free to do and open 24 hours.
