点评：Journey to Blue Paradise.
Everything about this trip to Cotton Bay was perfectly executed. From my initial contact with Shivonne on WhatsApp and subsequent email correspondence. I was particularly impressed with Shivonne’s speedy replies and up to date information for me in the U.K including current rates of exchange for the trip and as I wasn’t sure how many of my family could make the trip until quite close to the day, I was happy that we were fortunate to book the larger catamaran which was super comfortable with air conditioning and a spacious inside cabin.
The young crew were super friendly and polite and we were impressed with excellent sailing (noted by an older sailor on board in our family). Safeguarding from the capable captain and crew was in evidence as they took great care of older relatives to allow them to get on to the boat safely and into the water without any mishaps. The large, square floatie attached to the boat caused much fun and enjoyment and was used for those unsure of the very short journey to the Cotton Bay coastline, including a life jacket for a less confident swimmer so they too could benefit from the beautiful restorative waters of Cotton Bay.
This trip was six hours but the time really flew by. I enjoyed looking at the beautiful lush green trees that make up the North of Tobago, especially the Arnos Grove area on the hillside with bays tucked into the landscape leading up to Castara and Goat Island with Speyside glittering in the distance.
The local food and soft drinks on board were very much appreciated once we arrived at our destination of Cotton Bay but no trip is complete without a few caribs and stag beers which we supplied ourselves. The peas (typical at Christmas in the Caribbean) and a staple favourite of mine were particularly delicious and the fish and chicken were carefully barbecued to perfection on the boat by the crew. A great surprise and treat were a tasty 50th Birthday cake for me, which was such a lovely gesture and made a very special day just that little bit extra special.
We all enjoyed time for snorkelling once we arrive at Cotton Bay, the younger members of the family having much fun with underwater shots with GoPro and time for unwinding and being with family.
With just minutes to the end of our trip I declared “What a shame we didn’t catch a fish! " Minutes later we had the thrill of seeing the fishing line at the back of the boat tugging and our aunt pulling it in (with some support from the crew). A very large black tuna fish was caught, which we all ate the very next day (it fed all 12 of us, so no waste).
