点评:Our travel agent had booked us a "sanctuary" that was supposedly ethical. However, having seen a documentary on Dutch tv, we insisted that they book us a real sanctuary. We absolutely loved Somboon Legacy Foundation. Indeed, it is mostly educational, but they do try to make it fun. It is not easy to set up a full day programme that is hands-off. We especially liked the banana tree cutting, and the poo paper making. I thought our teenage daughters (15 and 17) would get bored but they enjoyed it as much as we did. Lunch was excellent, the volunteers are very well trained and friendly, and gave us a tour in the museum. I loved how the elephants went for their bath in the river, walking through the resort.
It is shocking to hear how many people still enjoy a ride on an elephant, or touching them in other "sanctuaries", after learning how abusive this really is to these wonderful animals. Please do not go to a "sanctuary", unless it is 100% hands-off.

在了解到这些可爱的动物遭受虐待后,仍然有这么多人在其他“保护区”享受骑大象或触摸大象的乐趣,这真是令人震惊。请不要去任何“保护区”,除非那里是完全不干预的。
