点评:You can't miss this buiding up the hill with it's canary-yellow trim and Western architecure. It's very impressive, and built after the Great Fire of 1907. One can visit the two floors inside, but there is not much to see honstly. The lower floor has an (empty) dining hall dominating it, along with a semi-furnished game room. Upstairs is mostly the great (and empty) reception hall, although there are a few 'imperial' rooms--bedroom, changing room, and even the toilet. These are decorated at least. There are also wonderful views of Hakodate harbour from the balconies.
Be warned about 2 things that make the visit much more difficult. First, the entry fee is cash only. Second, I guess to protect the wood floors shoes are not allowed. You must 'rent' slippers. This is fine, but there is nowhere easy to change from the shoes to slippers, much less when 50 other people are trying to do this at the same time. It's aggravating at best.
