点评:On my birthday, we set off on a delightful journey to Jupiter Artland, leaving our furry friend at home for the day. To our surprise, we arrived at the charming little black hut that serves as the box office much sooner than expected. A friendly young man welcomed us, and after a quick payment and a simple gift aid donation, we were ready to explore, map in hand
Driving through the grounds, we were immediately captivated by the picturesque views of rolling grass hills. These vibrant landscapes were not only a feast for the eyes but also beckoned us to explore, with enchanting paths winding their way to the summits. At the foot of the hills, I spotted a serene swan gliding gracefully across the still pond, its calm demeanour instantly setting a peaceful tone for our adventure.
Continuing our exploration, we encountered playful goats in their pen, infusing a bit of gentle fun into our day. At the pinnacle of the site, next to the car park, we marvelled at Marc Quinn's impressive 12-meter-high sculpture, “Love Bomb.” This striking piece, depicting a modified flower, poignantly illustrates how human desires are reshaping the natural world.
Eager to capture memories, we snapped a few photographs, though we found ourselves feeling a bit disoriented amidst the vastness of the art installations. Seeking direction, we approached fellow visitors to inquire about the café, hoping to fuel our adventure with some refreshments.
Following their guidance, we made our way towards the café, and spotted the massive orange house, this is the home of the two people who own the site, Nicky and Robert Wilson. Everything is very clean and appealing. Ahead of us is a structure, I cannot make it out initially, a large white construction, with white paper or storage inside, but as you approach you hear music and realise it is a coffin type structure, I am a little put off by this, until I read the sign to discover it is in fact “the spell or the dream” and inside this glass case lies the most beautiful captivating woman in a deep sleep and as you wander around the more you see the more special and fascinating this piece becomes.
We continue on the path to the café, there is a small gate leading to the garden in front of the large house, and in front of that a small polite sign saying for you to respect their privacy as it is their home. This makes you feel almost connected in some small way. There is a theme throughout, a calming, polite and respectful place to enjoy and explore in whatever way you wish to interpret, thought provoking and fun. Next there is a sign. You become excited at what this new adventure will provide. George Wilson The earth Exhales and an arrow you eagerly follow it. It seems to be part of the large orange house. And a garden, like you would find in a child’s book. A small cross shaped pond, a dovecote and garden. This leads to the entrance, and you walk into a discover an open fire and chandelier housed, sumptuous room. On the walls are the most intriguing paintings, unusual and appealing and there are small bugs in the paintings and on the surrounding walls, but this feels safe as you are captured with in this world, in this spell bound room.
We leave and continue on, a sign captures your eye, “You imagine what you desire.” I do not fully understand this, but I am content to accept it at this time. Later I discover this is a fragment from a quotation by George Bernard Shaw: “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.” We find the café but decide to have something later. There is a pathway inviting us to follow it. We cannot refuse; there are busts in the bushes on this pathway then you turn a corner to discover an extremely brightly painted swimming pool and glass dome. There is a girl sitting in the dome and again we say hello, and she is very polite and friendly. We head to the shop, and it is beautifully designed but a little pricey for us. We leave by the back door. The back of the shop wall is covered in mirrors and design. This is called the Forrest as these mirrors reflect the changing seasons that they reflect. We follow the path, passing sequins disco balls, and next is a cage homing a never-ending hole, it is called Suck. It is fascinating as you try to see into the depth of the hole but are just out of reach. The wonderful thing is you are guided on a path and discover sculptures, artwork and ideas and can choose how much you wish to explore each and what you wish to gain from each of them.
As we wandered, we encountered installations like Firmament, the stone house, weeping girls, Temple of Apollo, Landscape with gun and tree, in memory, cells of life, the rose walk, Quarry, The light pours out of me, Stone Coppice, Rivers and then back to see the goats close up and what perfect little well-kept creatures they are. I see a gardener working at the cells of life and wonder how the vast open grass fields are maintained so well. Next the horse and large sheep in a field. Then the sign for Jupiter.. only 964 million Kilometers and you would be there! The name of the park. Finally, we go back to the beautiful café for cake and a coffee passing chickens and further amazing artwork. A fabulous and fascinating place that lives with you even after you leave making it perfect for my birthday adventure. The more you find out about the place and the exhibits the more interesting it becomes, wonderful!
