点评:Bertrand Saudrais is an outstanding guide, from start to finish! There was no cutting corners, and not a single minute of inefficiency -- though we never felt rushed! Mr. Saudrais is affable, attentive, quick-witted, funny, and engaging. His knowledge of WWII history, details, stories, political context, war maneuvers, human interest, popular culture, and leadership makes the physical spaces and landmarks come alive with our imaginations, our empathy, and our own discernment. He delivered to us an extremely well-organized and well-thought out day of learning far more than we ever expected about the occupation of France and its liberation in 1944. He is an extremely competent driver, and possesses an open and welcoming presence, while being sensitive to our own needs for water, coffee, breaks, and walking tempo. His pacing was perfect. In terms of sheer volume of knowledge on the topics at hand, he is masterful. He knew, without hesitation or reservation, a complete answer to every one of the dozens of questions we asked him. He added humor when it was warranted, and was approrpiately somber and respectful at the American cemetery, where again, he demonstrated his insatiable appetite for historical information and details, as we studied and respected many specfic grave markers. HIs enthusiasm is contagious, and we became eager students of his. Lucky us! I recommend Mr. Saudrais without reservation and suggest you book early!
