京都府立植物园的点评
点评：Perfect for sakura, and a hanami party. There are many other amazing flowers as well - too many to mention - and trees, flowering and not, and statues, and a kiddie playground, and a gazebo on the water with turtles swimming by.
The best of all the cherry trees is marked with a plaque from Rotary International designating it a Heritage Tree. At the foot of the tree is a moat filled with carefully cultivated Japanese irises. It is regrettable that the blooming of the sakura and of the irises did not coincide the times we were there.
We have previously visited in autumn for foliage and the gardens are just as wonderful with a variety of trees and colors.
The conservatory no doubt holds magical wonders. We have yet to visit it, fearful that the humidity will play havoc with our cameras.
You could easily spend a full morning or afternoon here punctuated by lunch at one of the restaurants. There is a restaurant near the Kitayama gate , but it looks like the sort of place for old money and ladies who lunch. We favor the plebeian café at the Central Lawn, self-service and run by volunteers, probably members of a Friends of the Gardens Association.
Tips:
Be sure to pick up a map at the entrance.
Look for the senior discount, if it applies, when purchasing your entrance ticket.
Entrance to the conservatory is now included with ticket price.
Also note, the ticket allows for multiple entries on the day so you can leave for lunch and return later.
