点评：Visited in August 2024. I’d always wanted to visit as I knew it was used for the classic 1995 “ Pride & Prejudice “ tv show with Colin Firth.
The home itself is absolutely stunning. Very little modernisation inside ( nothing that detracts from the period of the house ) and you are able to dress up as a character from the Regency period, courtesy of a costume dressing room in the gallery, which is manned by onsite staff. The staff throughout the house, were all very informative and helpful and clearly knew lots about the history of the house.
We learnt that, although there is a lake on the grounds near the House, the actual sequence of Mr.Darcy ( Firth ) diving in to the Lake, and surfacing, was done in a swimming pool nowhere near the house.
The grounds and gardens are lovely and although we visited on a very sunny day, it did not feel overcrowded.
Highly Recommended, especially if you are a fan of Pride & Prejudice or stately homes.
