A Nice Compact Residence
胡雪岩故居的点评
点评：Fortified by dumplings and noodles at the noodle bar at the end of Dajing Alley off He Fang Street (TA reviewed) we strolled across the road to Hu Xueyan’s former residence. The ticket office is around the back in Yuanbao Street. Once again, I presented my passport and was enough old and got in for free. My wife was ¥20.
Rich people have a large garage however Mr Hu had a sedan chair hall, now that’s what I call showing off!
My wife says he made money with medicines. The house is impressive, not a big rambling house as some we have seen, but is rather compact and oozes style, the pond in the garden with a bridge is lovely.
We sat in the shade and enjoyed watching the fish in the pond. A great way to relax for a few minutes after the hustle and bustle of He Fang Street.
We wandered around a bit more and discovered a small gift shop, but there was nothing to attract my wife.
Be prepared for steps and stairs.
However, after an hour it was time to head back to the Vienna Hotel (TA review Vienna Hotel Qingchun Road).
