点评：We had an excellent visit to Paradise Mill and the Silk Museum in Macclesfield. From start to finish, the staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. There’s a small on-site café which was a nice place to relax before the tour began.
The guided tour of Paradise Mill was outstanding. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, bringing the history of the mill and its workers to life. Watching the original Jacquard looms in action was a real highlight. The preserved interiors – including the supervisor’s office and workers’ tea room – gave a powerful sense of what life was like in a working 1930s silk mill.
We also visited the Silk Museum next door, which is full of fascinating exhibits, including beautiful silk textiles, pattern books, and historic machinery. It really helped paint a full picture of Macclesfield’s important role in the silk industry.
Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in history, industry, or traditional craftsmanship. A very worthwhile day out.
