点评:We went on the tour of Paradise mill which is next door to the Museum and attached to it. The museum is free -- and it has a nice friendly coffee bar in the entrance. The tour has a per person cost. The tour was excellent.. thanks to the tour guide. Maybe it took an hour or so total... Time went by fast so I lost track of the actual time. Our guide (Daisy?) did a great job explaining both about the process of silk weaving/ what the machines did but also about the social history of silk weaving and the weavers. These days museums in general are a lot better about having people explain the exhibits and so on - but this was one of the best guided visits I have been on. It helped that the tour group was small. There was lots of time for questions -- and the guide was super patient about answering them all. . Do the tour first - before the museum - because that helps make sense of some of the exhibits and things you will see in the museum itself. The museum overall is a nice quirky town museum -- it has a room of Egyptian material ( a couple of mummies) along with displays on silk manufacture etc.. And the staff we met were wonderful - super friendly and helpful.
