点评：We spent four days in the Netherlands, and three of them were in Amsterdam. By far, our day of Scooter Experience was our favorite day and favorite experience. We've decided that next time we visit the Netherlands, we will repeat the Scooter Experience and we will spend more time in small towns. Amsterdam is great, but after our Scooter Experience, we wished we had planned to be in the rural areas more.
If you are traveling from Amsterdam to the Scooter Experience, public transportation will probably involve walk-train-bus-bus-walk. Therefore, we learned that the best way to travel there is by Uber (39 euros, cash). It not only saves time, but it also takes the stress out of transferring in an unfamiliar transit system. It's also not much different in cost. It's about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. When your ride arrives at the Scooter Experience, you may wonder if you are in the right place, since it is not immediately visible. Therefore, you should know that the Scooter Experience is at Restaurant 1456. If you see the restaurant, you are at the right place.
My wife and I chose the extended route, and we are so glad that we did. We covered 55 kilometers, and it was one of the greatest outdoor experiences of our lives. Our son and daughter-in-law had honeymooned in the Netherlands, and they did the Scooter Experience. They still talk about it 6 years later, and now we understand why. The varied beauty that you will see is indescribable on the amazing routes that Erik has designed.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Erik, and he took time to give us a little driving orientation on the parking lot, talk us through the mapped route (and interesting stops we might want to make - including lunch). He was very kind, answering all of our questions and making it an easy process. It was a pleasure to simply talk with him about his visits to the U.S. and life in the Netherlands.
We can't recommend this highly enough!
