Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens的点评
点评：There is an impressive array of plants and trees, many we had never seen before, and, having rained just an hour before our visit, the smells that were being emitted were glorious. We really enjoyed it and spent 1 ½ hours happily wandering around.
The reason I gave 3 stars was that, as lovely as it is, we clearly went on the wrong day.
We were told upon arrival that the viewing platform was closed, and that was normal during the winter. The person at reception crossed that section of the map off, so we knew where not to go. It's a shame because we were really looking forward to seeing that. We were still, however, pretty excited to get over to the rope bridge (one of the longest in the UK!). We walked around and around looking for it to no avail. There was a sign that directed us to it, but we still couldn't find it. Another family was looking for it, too. Eventually, under a tree and behind a barrier, we saw the sign for the rope bridge on the ground and a padlocked gate.
Obviously, we were disappointed that the rope bridge was closed, and had we been informed beforehand, we wouldn't have been quite so annoyed going round and round in circles! If they are going to tell you that the viewpoint is closed and scribble that part of the map out for you, why not tell you about the rope bridge too? There is nothing on the website about closures to the rope bridge, the main cafe (there is a pop-up one), or viewpoint.
Just be honest and keep people informed. The gardens were amazing, but two of our reasons for going were closed, and we weren't told.
Would highly recommend it, but maybe check before you go to avoid disappointment.
