点评:We visited the Centre from 22 to 24 July 2025.
When you are with Brian Williams you are privileged to be in the presence of an ornithological expert and - more importantly - one who wishes to share with you his knowledge and enthusiasm.
We attended one of his bird displays. The birds were magnificent creatures, designed by nature for their very specific role. The owls: night predators, quiet, precise, accurate; and the hawks, endowed with uncannily accurate eyesight, identifying their prey from on high and then swooping down silently, and fast.
The memory which I shall retain forever is that of a falcon, diving out of the sun at a lure, and then using his speed to regain height, performing a perfect stall turn (to starboard!) before descending for a second attempt. We tried to do this with aeroplanes such as the Spitfire and ME109 but this bird showed, with incomparable grace and elegance, how it should be done.
Brian Williams brought this side of nature to my attention, and was ready and willing, and very able, to answer all my questions. I am very grateful to him.
Do not miss a visit to Perriswood!
