点评:Our family of five went on an adventure through a section of the Burren with Tony Kirby this past May.
Two of us had walked a different section of the Burren by ourselves several years ago. While I would say never pass up an opportunity to visit the Burren, I would definitively say never pass up the opportunity to walk the Burren with Tony.
One, if not the only, environments in the world that contains Mediterranean, Alpine and Arctic plants in one place, the Burren is the result of ions of complex interactions between weather, plant life, animals, and humans. Tony is not only highly knowledgeable about the Burren’s history, but also has a deep understanding of the contemporary forces that will impact its ability to survive.
Attempting to ingest all of this information could overwhelm one’s ability to truly take in the experience of simply being in this space. Tony however, blends the story of the Burren, his answers to your questions, and the moments in between so deftly that the experience of walking and learning becomes seamless. Add in Tony’s love of Irish poetry, and his ability to share just a bit, at just the right moment and you will have so much more than just a walk.
