点评:Havre is midway between St. Paul and Seattle, so it boomed with the arrival of the Burlington Northern Railroad , which was completed in 1893.
One thing isn’t obvious. You get tix for the tour in the railroad museum. This museum feels very organic, many original artifacts. It’s a great warm-up to the tour.
The main idea around the tour, the spark if you will, is the fire of 1904 that burned most of downtown Havre to the ground. Keep in mind that the demand for the town’s services was growing with the railroad. Townspeople, since their storefronts were gone, retrofitted the basement spaces into stores.
Tour guide C/Kathy has encyclopaedic knowledge of the artifacts, history, and story. She is delightful.
This is a great way to get introduced to the history and spirit of the town!
