Beautiful cemetery, well-kept graves.
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery的点评
点评:Unlike a previous comment, we had no issues walking around the cemetery. We parked up fairly near the bottom of the authors ridge and walked around the cemetery for a while before walking the ridge and ending up back at the car. We did have a strange interaction with someone else visiting the authors who was annoyed we were parking near her car (we hadn’t even parked and she waved us down to tell us not to block her car in - Uhm, why would we?). Anyway, despite our wandering about we still left before she did. She wasn’t cemetery staff.
The cemetery itself is beautiful. I loved finding the Alcott graves, Emerson and Hawthorne etc. I was surprised the Alcott graves were not gated off as has been the case with other famous graves elsewhere but also pleased we were able to get close. Reminder to be respectful and not walk on graves!
I also liked seeing the pencils and art brushes left, according to the buried’s preferences. Lovely tribute.
Don’t get this cemetery confused with the cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York (as some people clearly have, judging by the comments). This is not the cemetery in the story and has nothing to do with Irving.
