点评:We were eager to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lunenberg. We arrived on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, around noon. The buildings are old; many are lovely. But almost everything was closed! Most importantly, the Fisheries Museum, which seemed to be the most interesting site there, had closed 2 days ago, for the season. Most restaurants were closed, as were many of the homes/stores/buildings which seemed to have been previously open to the public. Parking was impossible on the streets without Canadian coins (no credit cards accepted) except for 3 blocks up from the main area - and I say “up” because it was a steep hill. As older persons, on a partly rainy day, it occasionally felt dangerous.
We enjoyed an open bookstore and the Whiskey distillery (no tour, but free tastings).
It just seems to me that a World Heritage site could do a bit more to accommodate visitors who come during the late fall and winter. Or advertise prominently so that tourists can choose different places to visit.
