Another BaiYunShan
梧州白云山公园的点评
点评：Wuzhou was the two-hour lunch stop on a three-day bus trip from Guangzhou to a few places in the south of Guangxi province.
We’d already ‘done’ Qilou Building (TA Review) and had meandered back to our coach.
When our tour guide announced, we were going to BayYun Mountain SWMBO became confused as her favourite park in Guangzhou is BaiYun Mountain (TA reviewed). There can’t be two BaiYun’s she insisted, this one must be an imposter. Well, there are two and that’s that!
This one was called Daling Mountain but for an unknown reason the name was changed to BaiYun.
On the bus, our tour guide had suggested that we buy bus tickets at 20 Yuan each rather than attempt the 2-hour walk to the top. This turned out to the bargain of the trip as the walk is steep and there’s little to see.
Anyway, once at the top there are still many steps to climb to reach the viewing pavilion. Of course, I had to climb as high as possible, SWMBO sensibly decided to save her legs for the following two days.
At the top there were views of the river and the town. There’s a new viewing tower being built a kilometre or so away. I’d seen this on the bus on the way to Wuzhou and wondered what it was, now I knew. The tour guide reckoned it’ll be opened within a couple of months.
After 30-minutes we decided we’d seen all there was to see and wended our way down the steps to the bus stop. A ten-minute ride saw us at the entrance gate with still an hour to spare.
We investigated the area around the main gate. There’s a nice wall mural around the corner with a small shop opposite, and clean toilets are across the road.
On-time our bus duly appeared, we all climbed aboard and departed to our hotel with SWMBO still insisting this BaiYun park was a fake and not a patch of the real one back in Guangzhou.
