Stretching one long block from North Michigan Avenue on the east to State Street on the west, in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, it is known for the highest concentration of luxury stores and boutiques in the city, a mix of international couture houses, American luxury designer brands, fashion brands, exquisite boutiques and art galleries. Our contribution to the economy? We purchased a beautiful painting that hangs in our living room from one of Oak Street's famed art galleries. Browse and buy at Pravda, Harry Winston, Tom Ford, Hermes, Chanel, Cartier, Versace, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Anne Fontaine, Dole & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin, Lafayette 148 New York, St. John, Golden Goose, Buccellati and Patek Phillipe and Rolex by Razny Jewelers. Take a lunch break at the Brass Tack in the nearly Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, sample the French-Vietamese cuisine at Le Colonial or the oysters and frog legs at Hugo's Frog Bar or the bone-in ribeye at Gibson's. A day of shopping and dining on Oak Street is worth the time and money.
