点评:Really enjoyed our visit to the castle, which offered great views of the city. So much interesting history and beautiful displays of murals, paintings, stained glass, and other artifacts. Since display descriptions are nearly all in Spanish, plan to use a translation app if you like reading them. There is an audio guide available in English (which I didn't get) for an extra fee. There are restrooms in several places here. No food or drink allowed, so you'll need to store that in a locker before going up.
Tickets:
- 210 MXN
- free for children under 13 and people over 60 (bring your ID)
- bought them on site--line was long but moved fairly quickly. Near the front you can separate into a credit card or cash line (cash line was much shorter).
- tickets are only sold at the bottom of the trek (and online)--you can't buy them at the top of the hill
Walk up:
I'd read a lot about the walk up. For context, I have a torn meniscus in one knee, so I was worried mainly about the way down, as that causes more stress on the knee. Given that, and I'm not in great shape at all, the walk up was very easy. It was a gradual incline, and there are benches all along the way. I took my time due to my knee and made it up in 11 minutes without stopping. On the way down, it probably took about 14-15 minutes. It wasn't too steep, but it had just poured down raining about 20 minutes before I left. The main exit starts off with lots of stairs (and I didn't see railings, but maybe there were). The security guard recommended I just go down the way I came since I seemed hesitant about the steps (which were also wet).
Elevator:
There is an elevator for people using wheelchairs. Since I didn't have knee brace, I didn't ask about using the elevator.
