点评:I had no expectations.
I am not an architecture expert but love design.
I hesitated as the price was $48 Canadian. And the location meant an Uber.
But I was THRILLED that I got my ticket in advance. It sells out.
First, the garden across the street is open so you can enjoy it and there's a washroom.
Second, be ON TIME. They are strict on latecomers. I think for guided tours it's only 8 and self guided 12-15.
I think they got the message. The staff seem to be a bit less stringent. I wouldn't call them friendly but they were polite.
And, you can now take photos on your cellphone for FREE.
Okay. Now the house.
I was just blown away. If you take your time and look, the ingenuity, the thoughtfulness, the things we overlook and then consider this was designed and built in the 40s.
The placement of the windows, the inner courtyard, the window coverings, the lack of ceiling fixtures. How the bookcase runs from one room to the next. The 3/4 walls.
There was just so much to absorb.
They recommend 30 minutes but I spent 90. The unfortunate part is you cannot revisit any part. There's a set route.
For me this was a highlight of my trip and so memorable.
