点评：I like Barbados a lot. There is something about its diverse landscapes (though surprisingly flat compared to other Caribbean islands), its alternating beaches meet restaurants meet residential spots meet lush areas.
That's why downtown Bridgetown disappointed me somewhat. There is definitely a charm to the old warehouses that once brought its sugar and rum to Europe - some of them are still to be seen on the waterfront, including some wharves if you just move a bit off the beaten track. Except for the houses of parliament, that gallantly stand in the middle of all of this, and the synagogue there was disappointingly little to do in what I expected to be a powerhouse of a powerhouse (Barbados' economy grows rapidly lately). The great national Barbados museum is in outskirts - so that was for another day. Its shopping area - a bit delapidated. Moreover, most restaurants and bars around the careenage were closed.
At the same time, it is inhospitable either, nor unsafe. Contrary to downtown Montego Bay, Jamaica I saw no hustling or other nuisances. So great for some hours, but make a plan after.
