点评:Once a staple for visitors to Vancouver, the physical Vancouver Visitor Centre @ Waterfront Centre has been closed since the COVID pandemic; in fact, the space was taken over by Riley’s Fish & Steak in 2022. In the current day, Destination Vancouver runs a “Virtual Visitor Centre” in lieu of a physical centre. The virtual centre is pretty comprehensive in that it lists a plethora of activities in various categories, allows you to develop an itinerary, and communicate digitally with a “team member” if you have any questions; however, it just feels like the human touch is lacking when everything is done via the wired world. Granted, Destination Vancouver has an information desk inside the Vancouver Convention Centre (East), but it is nothing more than a small kiosk and hardly the same.
In any event, the Virtual Visitor Centre is fine, but there is something to be said for a physical space to visit, interact and ask questions. It is perhaps the best way to learn about our “City of Glass,” especially if you’ve never been here before.
As for this listing, it really should be marked “closed” because it isn’t re-opening.
PS: Destination Vancouver does maintain a physical office @ Waterfront Centre; however, it is a corporate space and not a tourist destination.
