点评：As a photographer and filmmaker from the East Coast, I’ve seen my fair share of breathtaking landscapes, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer magnificence of Oregon’s coast. My recent trip to Hug Point State Park and Cannon Beach left me completely in awe—the natural beauty, the light, and the atmosphere were unlike anything I had ever experienced.
I was visiting an old high school friend, and after a long, rewarding hike through Arch Cape with his dog, we decided to head down to the beach, cooler full of IPAs in hand, and settle in for what would become one of the most unforgettable evenings of my life.
The beach was vast, pristine, and lively—filled with beachgoers soaking up the warm glow of an Indian summer day in the fall. There was a bonfire crackling in the distance, kids running along the shore, and couples walking hand in hand as the sun began to dip toward the horizon.
And then came the sunset—a masterpiece in real-time. I have never seen colors so rich, so surreal, stretching across the sky and reflecting off the ocean like liquid fire. It was the kind of scene that makes you forget everything else and just exist in the moment.
This trip also gave me the perfect chance to test out my new Canon R6 mirrorless camera, and it delivered in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Every shot—whether of the waves crashing against the cliffs, the silhouettes of beachgoers against the golden sky, or the raw joy of my friend’s dog chasing the tide—became a slice-of-life masterpiece.
If you’ve never been to Hug Point or Cannon Beach, do yourself a favor and go.
