点评:This is for PARENTS THINKING ABOUT SWIMMING HERE with kids… After trying to go to the paid hot springs which looks adorable, they were closed due to a power outage. We were directed by another lady in the campground to some free hot springs just back down the road that are actually fed by the hot spring from the paid one. They looked lovely and unassuming. We had a nice long soak with our kids but upon departing saw there was a sign up near the top springs, we walked up to read it and saw it was a warning for Naegleria Fowleri (aka the brain eating amoeba). It was posted as a general warning about hot springs not saying that an actual case had occurred there but Upon further research after leaving we read that there had been 2 cases linked to this area, one to that specific spot where an 8 year old child had died after contracting NF after swimming there and recent testing had shown it was still present in the soils there. If you have young children, I wouldn’t recommend taking them there to swim out of an abundance of caution, I would take them to the paid (and treated) hot springs. If you still decide to take them, please make sure not to let them put their heads or faces in the water as that seems to be how it’s contracted. Just want to get the word out to other parents so they can make an informed decision about swimming there.
