Theater building is fine, produciton company is aweful

点评：The theater itself is fine. Small and modestly decorated for an early 20th century theater. The only decorative mural, at the top of the proscenium arch, was unfortunately obscured by the lighting rig for the current production. The seats are modern and comfortable. The production was professional.
The issue I have with the theater is to see a show at the Royal Alexandra (the only way you can see the theater,) you need to deal with Mirvish productions which seems to have a monopoly on theater in Toronto. Mirvish produced shows do not accept paper tickets: you must download their app onto your phone. The app, when opened, advertises other productions before you can get to your ticket information. I already have tickets for one of your shows. I don't want to see the Lion King. Annoying. So that app was deleted after we got to our seats.
The bigger problem is the onslaught of email from Mirvish after tickets were purchases. Daily, sometimes twice a day, emails from Mirvish would clutter my mailbox. Unfortunately, unsubscribing is not possible: when you choose unsubscribe from the bottom of a Mirvish email, they respond with a form that cheerfully tells you that they want to keep in touch and offers you 3 choices of different sorts of email to continue to receive. If you do not choose one, the form isn't accepted. So basically if you ever get tickets from Mirvish you will be spammed. And spammed. And spammed some more. Just be forewarned. Having seen one show at the theater, we will never again bother. Luckily we do not live in Toronto, so it is no loss.
