点评:This is a wonderful museum, and even though we spent 3 hours there, we could certainly have spent more time. The exhibits are compact, but first class, and a visitor receives a very comprehensive introduction to the history, challenges, and flow of Sámi life. The basic framework is contained within the four seasons (eight, actually), and one learns about the landscapes, the flora/fauna, the challenges, and most of all, the people themselves. Within the main exhibit hall the life size videos of the Sámi and the wall-sized photos of the countryside are spectacular. Outside, there is an open-air museum featuring heritage buildings, which was unfortunately mostly closed at the end of winter, but we took in what we could, and found the interpretive signage excellent. Practical info: The museum’s website is comprehensive and informative. The gift shop is well worth a visit for its unique, often locally handcrafted, offerings. Group tours for up to 25 persons are available for a fee.
