点评：I have been to the RBG many times for the flowers, plants and garden walks. It has always been fantastic -- a really special experience. However, for the first time I organized an event, a sit down dinner for 50 people. In total, we were charged $140 per person for the buffet dinner WITHOUT drinks (alcoholic or otherwise). We were suckered in by the advertised buffet price of $49 per person but they have many extra charges and fees. For example, the cash bar had a fee, the room had a fee and they added 17% service to everything despite the lack of table service (it was a buffet!). The food was completely ordinary and the amounts just plain stingy. We pre-ordered a cheese platter to have an appetizer and we were told the chef would work out what $420 meant. Turns out it meant a small chopping board of rather ordinary cheese with a few grapes (see picture). The buffet literally ran out of vegetables and salad before all guests had been served. The chicken and vegetables were served without gravy or a sauce. They like their fees and rules. They fussed about having more than one kind of red wine at the cash bar -- told us that would be extra. Then the bar wasn't even ready on time. They also ran off with the last of the desserts (squares) without warning. Very strange service experience. Guess this is what happens when you don't compete on the basis of your dinner service and get a free ride on having the gardens. Would have been far better off enjoying the rock garden for $10 and going somewhere else for our dinner.
