点评:This place was a revelation, and because we had a visitor's pass, we were not charged for the superb guided tour (thank you, Alexi!) that we were given. I parked in the small parking lot by the entrance to the path that leads to the manor house, and walked through the forest, past the (alas) locked family chapel, to the reception office (about 450 metres). I knew that my wife would not be able to walk the distance, and enquired if I could somehow get to the site by car. The senior staff member (thank you, Jennifer!) told me that one of her colleagues would collect my wife in an electric golf cart, which we did. We had a marvellous visit (available in English or French), and learned a great deal about Louis Joseph Papineau and his family. A ramp to get to the ground floor would be wonderful, but there are not too many steps to negotiate, and wheelchairs (without footrests, unfortunately) are available. The 7 staff members, without exception, were charming and helpful. The CD of enjoyable music from Julie Papineau's era (on sale for $23 in the boutique) contains an excellent booklet, with a great deal of historical information. There is a most informative family museum close to the manor house. Be sure to visit the garden behind the house, and the orangery. You can picnic on tables in the sun or the shade, near the house. Take photographs of all four sides of the house, as each facade is different!
