镇北堡西部影视城的点评
点评：The area includes three main themes: Qing Dynasty town, Ming Dynasty town, and a 20th century town. There is a bit of actual historical ruins left but for the most part it was recreated in the last few decades for purposes of filming.
You don't need to have watched the movies / tv shows to appreciate the place. We didn't watch any of the films before but still had fun taking photos with the historical backdrop and props. You can rent clothes to take photos in. They also offer professionals to follow you around and film, with extra cost of course.
The Ming Dynasty area feels a bit more authentic and is more desolate. It recreates scenes from old towns. The Qing Dynasty area is a bit more commercial, with small stalls on the main road that sells various snacks, crafts, etc.
Overall it was fun and worth the visit.
