A very disappointing experience for our family.
We visited with our son, who has restricted mobility. He is ambulatory and can transfer, but he uses a wheelchair for longer distances. Before joining any queues, we spoke to Guest Services to understand which rides he would be able to go on. We were given information that suggested he could access certain rides.
Unfortunately, when we reached the front of the queues, he was refused access. We understand that individual ride safety requirements exist, but the problem was that there appeared to be no realistic opportunity for a child with his level of mobility to participate.
For children with restricted mobility, accessibility is not simply about whether someone uses a wheelchair or not. There needs to be clear guidance based on individual abilities, so families know what is possible before they visit.
Our experience was that our son was unable to enjoy the rides we had been told he could access, which was extremely disappointing for him and for us as parents.
We hope Fårup Sommerland reviews its accessibility approach so children with disabilities and restricted mobility can have a more inclusive experience.
