点评:This is an the impressive minor basilica at Place d'Armes in the Old Montreal District. With a history that dates back to around the end of the 17th-century, the building you see today was mostly constructed between 1824 and 1860. What you see is considered a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture in Canada.
Opening hours are 9am to 4.30pm (weekdays & Sat) and 12.30pm to 4pm (Sun). General entry is CND$16 per adult. You can book tickets online to avoid queueing upon arrival. Otherwise, you can purchase tickets directly upon arrival. Visit the cathedral website for daily Mass schedule.
The stone exterior is fronted by two towers niches with statue figures and arch column porch. It is quite subtle compared to the elaborate and ornately decorated interior which makes significant use of blues, greens and golds. The nave is a splendour to view throughout but crowds are something to be aware of. The church was jam packed with people during our early afternoon visit. Take a seat to enjoy what you are seeing if helpful. Otherwise, be patient while making your way around the nave to view the side aisles, altars and many religious and decorative features.
