First, a pro tip: I highly recommend taking a taxi from the village instead of walking—the trek is longer than you might expect, and you’ll want to save your energy for the tour!
Once you arrive, you’ll be blown away by the beautiful architecture and lush surroundings. The tour itself is well-organized and highly informative, giving you a deep dive into the history of Codorníu and the traditional methods of making Cava. The wine tasting is generous, and if you’re a Cava lover, you’re in for a treat—Codorníu Cavas are some of the best, and you’ll get to try amazing examples of their craft.
A major plus: accessibility is well thought out, with an elevator to the caves for those who can’t manage the stairs. This makes the experience much more inclusive than some other winery tours.
The only downside—and I have to stress, this isn’t Codorníu’s fault—is the on-site restaurant, Torres de Codorníu. It’s run by a separate company, and unfortunately, the staff were quite snobby and unfriendly. If you’re thinking of dining there, skip it. Instead, pack a sandwich and eat before your tour to avoid any unnecessary hassle.
Make sure to bring your camera or phone, because there are endless photo opportunities throughout the property.
