点评:This was the best museum of our whole trip to Canada (better than any of the other museums in Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal). While across the river from the Ottawa Parliament, it is technically in the Quebec region as the border is along the river.
From the UK and with little prior knowledge of Canadian history, the museum was an incredibly informative journey through Canada, from the earliest human settlements and first nation tribes and peoples, through to the colonial period of British and French colonies, and the coming together of the different regions to form the modern Canada we know today. We learnt a huge amount and it made the rest of our trip more enjoyable as we could appreciate Canada's complex history and people's, their struggles and progress towards peace. It handles topics of power, culture, race and empire sensitively and from all perspectives, and is a true celebration of the nation.
I recommend spending at least 3 hours or half a day here, though to read the exhibits in more detail one could spend the whole day here.
