Disappointing and Misleading Experience
Elephant Village Sanctuary & Resort的点评
点评：This was unfortunately the worst experience I’ve ever had on my travels. We booked “a half-day elephant care program,” expecting a meaningful and ethical interaction. Instead of that we spent about 10 minutes feeding 3 elephants behind a wood fence, another 10 minutes feeding 2 elephants that were chained, and the rest of the time we being shown a new pool with fountain and waterfalls under construction.
This had nothing to do with real elephant care which you can see in Thailand for example. It felt more like a tourist trap and hotel than a sanctuary. The elephants are clearly not the priority here — the entire experience felt staged and disingenuous.
What’s even more upsetting is that this facility was still offering elephant rides and using bullhooks as recently as 2019. Now, they present themselves as ethical and forward-thinking, but it comes across as pure hypocrisy.
I urge others not to support this hotel with 5 sad elephants😢. There are truly ethical sanctuaries out there — sadly, this is NOT one of them. 🙏🏻
