Aiea Loop Trail的点评
点评：We have visited Oahu many times and we always like to attempt a new adventure each trip! This was one of our new hikes--and we loved it!
I plugged the location into my Google Maps and we started driving. Pretty easy to find. There were a couple of times that I thought that we had arrived, but I was mistaken. Keep going as there are lots of signs (and a parking lot) that direct one to the beginning of the hike. We went on a Thursday and there was ample parking.
There are bathrooms (that flush) at the beginning of the trail. That was appreciated!
The trail was not too busy. We ran into a number of other people--families, solos with dogs, couples, seniors, joggers, etc. It was quite quiet, overall, and we liked that! I am not certain if this would be a suitable hike for small(er) children as there are no rails, and in some areas there are steep(er) edges.
I read, prior, about the rain/muddiness. It was dry when we arrived but we encountered two showers as we walked. It was nice to walk in the rain, but the trail did become a bit muddy and slippery. Not a big deal, though. The mud, overall, was minor. I think that the area is rather misty and high in the mountains--this must account for the dampness/rain as it was hot and sunny as we drove up.
There are a variety of lovely lookouts. Views were scenic, expansive, and beautiful. It felt like 'old Hawaii'. While it was missing some of the flowers and color of Manoa Falls, I loved the hike and would certainly do it again! It was largely flat with some hills--nothing too strenuous, we thought.
Note--the sign at the beginning of the hike states that this hike will take 2-3 hrs.
