点评:The Victoria & Albert Museum had a special exhibit on "Marie Antoinette Style". When I booked a ticket back in September, the exhibit was sold out until Christmas. When I checked back in January, it was completely sold out! I was so lucky to be able to get a ticket to this spectacular exhibition.
After the French Revolution, Marie Antoinette's possessions were scattered. This exhibition is the first time many of these items have been reunited. Any item that actually was used by Marie Antionette was marked with her monogram on the description board. There were other items which reflected her style as well as more recent pieces which were inspired by her style.
The first room had a portrait of "Queen Marie Antoinette in court dress". This later version of a 1778 portrait by Elisabeth Louise Vigee Le Brun is thought to be one of the most realistic portraits of her. The next room had a showcase featuring the wedding gown of Duchess Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotta, 1774, by an unknown maker. For her own wedding, Marie Antoinette wore a similar gown. You can also see Marie Antoinette's beaded silk court mule, 1770s, and her beautiful jewellery. She stored her jewellery in a "jewellery casket", which she received as a wedding gift in 1770.
The last room was titled "Marie Antoinette: Restyled". Modern designs have drawn upon her style. It was a spectacular exhibit.
