The park opened at 10 AM and the staff we encountered were kind and courteous. However, before noon, the park had run out of ice for drinks (perhaps even earlier as that’s when I was seeking an ice refreshment). Even renting a cabana for $200/day was completely a wash, as the most basic services become compromised by the parks poor operational oversight.
Food service was another challenge. Of the food locations in the park, only one was open, and it stopped serving food around 2 PM. This created long wait times and a lot of frustration once these announcements became public to the parks visitors. The staff working were doing their best, but they seemed overworked and constantly shuffled from one busy station to the next as the day of chaos consumed them on a blistering hot day.
Since the park is closed Monday through Friday during this time of the year, I expected everything to be fully operational for the weekend crowd. On a Saturday, with ticket prices over $30 per person (plus the cabana rental), basic amenities such as cold water and adequate food service should be reliable—especially on a day with a 104° heat index.
I understand that staffing can be difficult late in the season as students return to school, but if the park is unable to provide essential services, it may be better to shorten the season rather than compromise the guest experience.
Overall, while the staff themselves were kind, the lack of planning and oversight led to a disappointing visit. Will not be returning.
