点评:I was staying in the Rose Street area of Edinburgh and this is an easy walking distance from Princes Street. Not a big property, but very interesting and gives a glimpse of life in the New Town as the city expanded. You begin the visit by going up stone stairs to the second floor and watch a film of re-created life in the house. This is very good and puts everything into context. There are volunteers in each of the rooms as you descend. The gentleman in the kitchen (down more stone stairs) was very good and we chatted for ages - and the New York gentleman in the dining room was very engaging. Not a long visit, but if you have membership of the National Trust well worth stopping off at. No shop as such, just a few bits and pieces near the desk at the stairs as you go in. This would not be a good place to visit if you have mobility problems as there are stone steps up to the house, and stone steps up and down inside. I don't know if there was a way to watch the film without going up to the second floor? If there was it might help with anyone unable to attempt the stairs. Not a place I would rush to return to, but if you are stopping in the city and have half an hour to spare, worth popping in to see.
