点评:After touring Mary King's Close off the Royal Mile in The Old Town, seeing how living changed into the following century was of interest. And knowing that The National Trust of Scotland managed this address made me enter with high expectations. The street-view was amazing, the staff, exceptional & very welcoming, the interior, charming. My grandson and I enjoyed the photo-op on the second floor in which he wore a tailcoat from the 18th century! Woodwork and plasterwork were exactly what I expected--having been a fan of Georgian architecture for years. Actually, though all the oil paintings, fine furniture, and silver(plate) in the Dining Room were impressive, I most enjoyed the kitchen in the basement level of this house. That's where the wealth of this 'resident family' most impressed me--five (5) cooking stoves and six (6) food-preparation areas! They even display a sugar cone in the kitchen--a very rare antique in its' own right! I also want to acknowledge the Gift Shop in this house. Its variety of merchandise was not only appropriate for the site but reasonably priced as well!
