点评：Spectacular example of geographical erosion and shaping of sandstone within a very scenic part of North Otago.
A very superbly detailed board provides a great description of how the formations were formed, and noticeably clear tracks of access allow for an intimate close-up encounter with them. Good footwear to tackle stony ground is however essential.
Accessed by a private farm road for which a toll is payable either at the gate ($10.00 at the time of writing this review) or, through an internet bank transfer.
Well worth a visit, with the only negative being that because it is popular, getting a great photograph at ground level, without a horde of people, becomes a mission of its own. However, the spectacular Ahuriri River valley within which the Clay Cliffs are located, is also very photogenic any time of the year.
