Dartmoor Zoo also has a fascinating backstory. Originally opened in 1968, it faced challenges that ultimately led to its closure. However, in 2006, Benjamin Mee and his family purchased the zoo and began its remarkable restoration. Their inspiring journey is documented on a book “We Bought a Zoo”, which later inspired the Hollywood movie of the same name.
