点评:A small but very informative museum dedicated to the only surviving ship that brought convicts to Australia. The Edwin Fox is a sailing ship that was built in 1853 and after serving in the Crimean War it was used to transport convicts to Australia. It was also used to transport migrants to Australia and New Zealand for many years. A freezer was later added so as the ship could be used to store sheep carcasses alongside the dock. After many years being stranded it was fortunate that the Edwin Fox preservation society took over ownership of the vessel and have put it on display close to the area that visitors arrive by ferry to Picton on New Zealand’s South Island. It was an interesting way to spend just over an hour, after disembarking the ferry and not staying in a long line of traffic leaving Picton. You cannot go onto the ship now because it is being re -enforced. It is expected that visitors will be able to board the ship again in early 2026.
