点评:Am I the only one who finds it offensive that souvenirs are being sold in the main hall .. a glitzy Euro machine opposite an equally inappropriate modern staff cabin is just wrong, wrong, wrong.
Please relocate this to the arrival / entry shop. It’s bad enough that you have to pay to visit a national shrine, but this souvenir tat is a step too far.
BTW, the grounds are looking distinctly tatty (car park, Road edges, weeds) .. in comparison to the immaculate and beautiful American Cemetaries in France.
As for the ‘charging to enter’, we can all agree that this is a national disgrace.
Anyway, it’s an essential site to visit (1st), to be followed by Fort de Douaumont (2nd) and then the Memorial site (3rd) . You will then have full grasp of how Verdun is to the French what The Somme is to the English. All very moving.
